Djokovic Seeded No1 at US Open

The US Open players have been seeded and as expected, reigning Wimbledon champion, Novak Djokovic is number One, while the man he beat to win, five-time winner, Roger Federer is second.

Federer and Djokovic will look to having a rematch of this year’s Wimbledon final if they both reach the final of the year’s final grand slam tournament.

Djokovic has reached the US Open final for the past four years at Flushing Meadows, winning the title in 2011 while Federer is seeded at the US Open for a 14th consecutive year, tying Ivan Lendl for the second longest streak in the Open era with only Jimmy Connors (18) ahead of them.

Rafael Nadal, the reigning US Open champion, has withdrawn from the tournament because an injured right wrist. Australian Open champion, Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland has been seeded third with Spaniard David Ferrer fourth and Britain’s Andy Murray, the 2012 US Open champion, eighth.

The seeds for the women’s tournament will be announced on Wednesday, with the draw to be conducted on Thursday.
