Deputy Senate President Calls For Decentralisation of Police

The Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has called for a review of the nation’s policing system to tackle the insecurity challenges in the country.

Speaking to journalists after commiserating with the victims of Nyanya bomb blast, Senator Ekweremadu said that the Federal System of Government operated in Nigeria made it imperative that policing the nation was decentralised.

Senator Ekweremadu, accompanied by his wife , who were at the emergency unit of the National Hospital, Abuja also decried the inadequate officers in the Nigerian Police Force.

He condemned the rising disregard for human life, insisting that only a multi-level policing could secure the country adequately.

Also at the hospital where some members of the management team of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, who donated medical materials for the treatment of the injured.
