Defection: Adeseun has gone back to his vomit – Oyo APC

Sharing is caring!

The All Progressives Congress, (APC) Oyo State chapter, has likened the exit of the Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District, Senator Ayo Adeseun, from its fold as the return of a dog to its vomit.

The party, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Tuesday by its State Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, said it was not perturbed by the defection of Adeseun to the rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because, according to it, a dirty river would always find the gutters.

“Any discerning mind should congratulate the APC for managing Adeseun this far. Here is a man who started his political career with the Alliance for Democracy (AD) before defecting to PDP under which he contested the House of Representatives elections in 2003.

“After spending two terms in the lower legislative chamber, he again found an abode in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) where he was given the opportunity of becoming a Senator. He is at it again, doing what he knows how to do best, that is, defection at the slightest opportunity.

“While we congratulate the Senator for defecting to PDP which he vilified so much and took to the cleaners prior to his defection to ACN ahead of the 2011 general elections, we make bold to say that his decampment will further strengthen our great party rather than affecting its fortune in the 2015 general elections. It will show Nigerians that some of these politicians see integrity as a none-issue,’’ the party said.

It described Adeseun as a politician who is only answerable to his personal interest, adding that his decision to close ranks with Adebayo Alao-Akala whose reign as a PDP governor between 2007 and 2011 brought serious retrogression to Oyo State is a further testimony to the kind of person the senator is. After all, a Yoruba adage says `birds of a feather flock together’.

According to the party, it is only Adeseun and his co-travelers in the politics of deceit who have chosen to close their eyes to the unprecedented development that is taking place in Oyo State under the Ajimobi administration and how the governor had rescued the state from the rot which it had been for the eight-year rule of PDP.

“Certainly, if Ajimobi, according to Adeseun, is not in the category of people who can rule Oyo State, it can then be logically said that Alao-Akala, whom the Senator is teaming up with, could at best be fit to be the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) which is his natural habitat.

“But we are happy that in lieu of being the NURTW Chairman, Akala has chosen to the President of Ogbomoso Recreation Club where he is now presiding over bottles of beer and women of easy virtues,’’ APC said.

The party noted that, with the exit of the Senator, the destabilizing roles which he played within its fold would cease as the party would now be more united and strategically placed to face the forthcoming elections.

The APC said Adeseun was a great beneficiary of the Ajimobi government and had no cause to rise against him.

“Adeseun has nominees as commissioners, nominees as caretaker chairmen, nominees as board members and chairmen in the Ajimobi government. It is apparent that such characters can never be satisfied except they stab their benefactors in the back,” the party said.
