Dasukigate: Okonjo-Iweala exonerates self, releases memo sent to Jonathan for approval

In a bid to exonerate herself from the ongoing controversy surrounding the illegal arms deal by former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, ex-Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has released a memo, which was sent to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, to seek approval for the requested funds, Daily Post has reported.
According to the report, Okonjo-Iweala who has been alleged of working with Dasuki to divert the funds meant for the procurement of arms and ammunition for the armed forces, decided to exonerate herself by releasing an official Memo approved by former President Jonathan for the release of the funds.
Clearing the air on the burning issue, the former Minister released on Friday, December 11, the memo dated January 20, in which she sought Jonathan’s approval of $330 million and £5.5 million, requested by Dasuki’s office.
Dasuki has since been charged as the primary suspect in the arms deal fraud of about $2.1 billion and is currently cooling his heels in the security net.
