Dasuki: EFCC Arrests Jonathan’s Minister, Others

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Monday arrested a former Minister of State for Finance, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda, and top officials in the office of the National Security Adviser over the controversial arms procurement scandal.
Sources at the EFCC told NigerianEcho that the former minister was arrested Monday afternoon and taken to Abuja office of the agency, where he was quizzed by detectives.
NigerianEcho learnt, Yuguda arrest was as a result of billions of naira allegedly traced to his account.
Ambassador Yuguda was said to have received the sum N775million from the office of Accountant-General for an uncleared reason.
He was also alleged of conspiracy in payment of N1.2b by the former National Adviser on Security to a company for an undisclosed reason.
The transfers of the said fund, according to our sources were made to his account between December 2014 and May 2015.
Also arrested over the same issue is the director of Finance at the NSA office.
A presidential investigations committee into arms procurement under the Goodluck Jonathan administration had said in its interim report that it found extra-budgetary spending by the Jonathan administration to the tune of N643.8 billion and an additional $2.2 billion in the foreign currency component.
