Real Madrid forward and Portuguese captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has won the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or ahead of Argentina captain and Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi, and Germany and Bayern Munich’s Goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer.

Ronaldo won his third Ballon d’Or award on Monday in Zurich, after a wonderful year, in which he won the Champions League and Club World Cup with Real Madrid. His year was only marred by a poor performance with Portugal at the World Cup in Brazil in June.

Germany’s Nadine Kessler won the Women’s Player of the Year Award beating Brazil’s Marta and Abby Wambach of the United States.

Ronaldo’s Real Madrid Teammate, James Rodriguez beat Robin van Persie and Ireland’s Stephanie Roche to win the Puskas Goal of the Year for his goal for Colombia at the World Cup.

The FiFA Fair Play award was given to all VOLUNTEERS of global football events while germany coach Joachim Low was named Coach of the Year ahead of Real Madrid’s Carlo Ancelotti and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone.

The players who made the FIFA FIF Pro 11 are Neuer, Germany’s Phillip Lahm, Spain’s Sergio Ramos, Brazil’s David Luiz and Thiago Silva in defence; Spain’s Andres Iniesta, Germany’s Toni Kroos and Argentina’s Angel Di Maria in Midfield and Messi, Ronaldo and Netherlands’ Arjen Robben in forward positions.
