Crisis engulfs FMC Abeokuta as Doctor Slaps Nurse
The failure by the management of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Abeokuta to resolve the lingering feud between the two most important medical professionals in the institution is about to take an ugly turn as the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) has given the management of the institution till Monday 23rd of April to compel the erring Medical Doctor to tender a letter of apology or they will embark on an indefinite solidarity strike.
NigerianEcho reliably gathered that doctors and nurses of the institution on Monday withdrew their services following an altercation involving a young medical doctor, Dr Soyile and an elderly female nurse, in which Dr. Soyile reportedly slapped (a nurse) one Mrs Adesina who is an Assistant Nursing during an argument.
The incident was said to have been reported to the management of the institution by the nurses who felt wronged by the rudeness of the doctor, but the nurses eventually withdrew their services to register their displeasure over the way the Dr Dapo Sotiloye’s led management were handing the issue.
This development paralysed activities in the ever-busy tertiary health facility of the hospital, and with the latest threat from the remaining Health Workers, general activities in the institution stands the risk of being totally paralysed if the management failed to lend ear to the demand of the Union.
