Cleverly Blow to England Ahead of FIFA Qualifiers
Tom Cleverley has been ruled out of England’s two World Cup qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland due to a calf injury.
The Manchester United midfielder suffered the knock during training on Thursday and England medical team decided to pull him out of the game after seeing the results of a scan.
Cleverley would have likely been on the bench for both games with Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick and Jack Wilshere all ahead of him in the pecking order but the news would still come as a blow to England manager Roy Hodgson.
A statement by the Football Association said Cleverley will now return to his club for treatment.
