CAVEAT EMPTOR: MR. PRESIDENT – WATCH YOUR BACK
The attention of the office of the National Secretary of the PDP, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola has been drawn to a damaging statement circulated to
the media today by some people best described as political miscreants.
The statement emanated from one Prof. Wale Oladipo, claiming to be the national secretary of the PDP. But Oyinlola will not dignify people who are obviously seeking relevance with a response. It is interesting to note that Wale Oladipo has suddenly discovered that Oyinlola, whom he served as chairman of Osun State Universal Basic Education Board, for four years, alongside one Fafa Ojo, the author of the statement, is a political prostitute.
He knows how he went on his knees and begged traditional rulers to secure the appointment and curry other favours from former governor Oyinlola, after disagreeing and betraying Iyiola Omisore, his political mentor, including vying for the Osun State governorship slot when Omisore, his mentor was also in the race.
It is political immaturity on the part of impostors to parade a reputation they do not possess. Indeed, human memory is short. It is a pity that the Nigerian political setting harbours unstable characters who bite the fingers that fed them, even during their hours of travail.
One must hasten to alert and warn President Goodluck Jonathan to be wary of these people who are only out to pursue a hidden agenda and could disappoint him should they fail in their rabid ambition to get what they want.
Also responding to the media attack on his boss, Oyinlola’s Special Assistant, Prince Toyese Oyekunle enjoined politicians to strive to examine issues dispassionately instead of resorting to the use of abusive language which do not speak well of personalities.
He said that while nobody would quarel with people who wish to attack issues, the best option for Nigerian politicians is issue-based politics. He also stated that Oyinlola was elected national secretary of PDP by the national convention and not just a section of the country. For a few people to ask him to quit office sounds rather illogical and indefensible as the whole country is the constituency of the national secretary. In addition, there are laid down procedures for disengaging or removal of the legal occupant from the position of national secretary.
Oyekunle said it is better to respond to issues addressed by Oyinlola in his media statements logically, rather that issuing disparaging statements which do not address points raised by the PDP national secretary. Doing this, he said would present his opponents as cultured people.
