The CMT Music awards were held on Wednesday Night and had Country music’s brightest stars on hand.
The show had a host of high points, like the instance where an unlikely name was among the night’s big winners: Lionel Richie. The former “Commodores” crooner took home the prize for CMT Performance of the Year for his mash-up of “Oh No” and “All Night Long” with Luke Bryan at the 2013 CMT Artists of the Year event.
Carrie Underwood won her third straight video of the year, taking the top honor for the fifth time with “See You Again” to become CMT’s top overall winner with 11 belt buckles in her career. Country couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert also took home the his-and-hers hardware of Male and Female Video of the Year, respectively, while The Band Perry (above) nabbed Best Group Video.
The event was hosted by frozen actress, Kristen Bell and Performances included a “Somethin’ Bad” duet by Miranda Lambert and big winner of the night, Carrie Underwood; Bryan and Florida Georgia Line teamed up to perform their award-winning song “this is how we roll’ with Jason Derulo and ZZ Top
John Legend, Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes also joined together on a countrified version of Legend’s hit “All of Me” while Eric Church and Lzzy Hale of hard rockers Halestorm gave a performance of “That’s Damn Rock & Roll” that featured power vocals from Hale and a rap from Church.
