CAF refuses to Postpone 2015 Africa Cup of Nations
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed that the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations will still hold as scheduled from January 17 to February 8 despite the fear of the spread of the Ebola epidemic.
Although the proposed hosts of the tournament, Morocco, have withdrawn from hosting the tournament and also called for it to be postponed so as to avoid the risk of spread of the Ebola virus disease, the media director of CAF, Junior Binyam has said there would be no postponement after meeting with Moroccan officials.
Binyam also revealed that the officials of the federation would be meeting with those of the North African country again on November 11 at the confederation’s Cairo headquarters to take the final decisions.
Morocco must now decide before November 8 to decide if to host the tournament as planned or not as CAF has said any change of dates would disrupt their calendar which must follow FIFA’s international calendar.
