Ogenyi OnaziThe Confederation of African Football (CAF) has slammed a two-match ban on Super Eagles’ midfielder Ogenyi Onazi over his sending-off in Saturday’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Chad.

This was stated on Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) website on Wednesday.

According to it, the news of the ban, which was as result of ” violent conduct” of Onazi on the field during Nigeria, Chad match was conveyed to the Federation in a circular sent to it from the CAF Secretariat.

This development means the Italy-based player is automatically suspended from playing in Tanzania versus Nigeria, and Nigeria versus Egypt matches.

‎Onazi who is player with SS Lazio, was shown a red card for retaliation against a Chadian player who had fouled Odion Ighalo. This he did after the match referee, Ibrahim Mamane had awarded penalty in favour of Nigeria.
