Buhari urges APC Supporters to Ensure Party’s Victory in April 11 Polls
Nigeria’s President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, has called on supporters of the party not to relent in victory but to come out en masse again on April 11 to vote for the party’s governorship and house of assembly candidates.
Buhari made the call in a statement issued by the Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu.
He thanked Nigerians for their votes which ensured his victory in the March 28 polls, but also reminded them that the election of the party’s Governorship and House of Assembly candidates were just as important.
He said:“For APC to govern effectively, its supporters should also elect the party’s candidates in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections come April 11.”
Buhari went on to sympathise with the families of the party’s supporters who died and got injured while celebrating his victory.
He also advocated support for the Independent National Electoral Commission, citing that this is needed for the commission to improve on its impressive performance, despite logistical challenges and other unforeseen hiccups.
