President Muhammadu Buhari has re-affirmed his administration’s  commitment to the war against the Boko Haram insurgency by making a pledge during a meeting with French President, Francois Hollande, after Monday’s G-7 Outreach Programme.

The President released a news release via his Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, promising that Nigeria will accept support and cooperation from other nations as it attempts to overcome the Boko Haram.

He also distanced the terrorist group’s alleged links with religion, saying:

“There is clearly no religious basis for the actions of the group. Their atrocities show that members of the group either do not know God at all or they don’t believe in Him.”

In his reply, President Hollande commended President Buhari’s efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s armed forces and his co-operation with neighouring countries for more decisive action in the battle against terrorism.

He also assured President Buhari of France’s support, including military and intelligence cooperation, while also calling for greater bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and France in other areas including trade, economic and cultural relations.
