Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has sacked his Chief Security Officer ( CSO) Abdulrahman Mani and has appointed Basir Abubakar Usman to replace him.

Usman, was until his appointment was an assistant director in the Bayelsa state command of the SSS.
Mani has in turn been redeployed to the Ebonyi state command of the SSS.
There has been reports of friction between the State Security services otherwise known as DSS and the Military in the seat of power, Aso Rock. The sacked CSO, an official of the DSS was said to have been in a cold war with the President’s aide-de-camp‎ (ADC), Mohammed Abubakar, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army.

The friction, NigerianEcho gathered,  was as a result of the deployment of the DSS officials removing them from strategic places in the presidential villa replacing them with soldiers and other security forces. The instruction was contained in a memo signed by the ADC. The CSO issued a counter memo insisting that the secret service officials are primarily empowered to protect the President.
