Buhari Cancels Govt Delegation To Hajj,….Saves govt $1m

Nigerian President, Mohammadu Buhari has announced the cancellation of government delegation to this year’s hajj in Saudi Arabia.
This was disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu on Monday.
According to Garba, Mr. President decision was not targeted at any individual or group, adding that, individual, group could sponsor pilgrims.
“The states can deal with that (meaning appointment of own delegations) but this year at the Center, we will not be involved”, he said.
He however stated that the government shall play its traditional roles of providing consular, medical and security services to Nigerian pilgrims.
Buhari’s decision would save the government no fewer than $1m.
