A Federal High Court in Lagos has nullified the national caretaker committee constituted by the Peoples Democratic Party during last Saturday’s convention.

The convention had appointed a former governor of Kaduna State, Ahmed Makarfi, as acting chairman, while a former Senator, Ben Obi, was appointed acting national secretary.

The party said the acting national officers would be in office for three months.

In a ruling on Tuesday however, Justice Ibrahim Buba ordered Ali Modu Sheriff, to continue serving as the party’s chairman. It also directed Prof. Wale Oladipo and Alhaji Fatai Adeyanju to continue to function as the National Secretary and National Auditor.

‎The court further directed the Inspector- General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, to give enforce its order.

‎The case was then adjourned till Friday, 27th May, 2016, for the argument of all pending applications.
