Breaking News: Buhari names Yakubu, former Scribe of National Conference As INEC Chairman
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed former assistant Secretary for finance and administration at the last National Conference, Professor Mahmood Yakubu as new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Yakubu a native of Bauchi State whose appointment was confirmed at the emergency Council of State meeting held on Tuesday by the President was a former Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND)
Addressing the media after the meeting the Sokoko State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, said the appointment of the new INEC boss was in line with relevant provisions of the 1999 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State.
