Breaking: 5 attackers, 2 civilians dead in Jakarta attacks: Minister
JAKARTA: Five attackers and two civilians, one of them a Dutch citizen, were killed on Thursday (Jan 14) as gunfire and explosions rocked the Indonesian capital Jakarta, a minister said.
“Five terrorists are dead,” Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan told reporters at the scene.
He said one Dutch citizen was killed and one Indonesian civilian.
Police earlier said at least two suicide bombers were among the attackers and at least two others were killed in a shootout with police.
Jakarta police spokesman Muhammad Iqbal added that five police personnel, one foreign civilian and four Indonesian civilians were injured.
