Bastia striker, Brandao has been provisionally suspended until 18 September by the disciplinary committee of the Ligue de Football Professionnel and could face further action over his headbutt on Paris Saint-Germain’s Thiago Motta.

Shortly after PSG’s 2-0 win on Saturday, footage emerged of a clash between the two players in the tunnel. The video showed the veteran Brazilian striker appearing to head-butt his opponent, an incident which left Motta with a broken nose.

In a statement released on Thursday evening, the LFP’s disciplinary committee announced it would hold a full hearing into the incident on 18 September, with the 34-year-old suspended until then.

Brandao, who joined Bastia after leaving St Etienne on a free transfer, attended the hearing. This week, Bastia announced they would take no action against the player despite condemning his behaviour.
