Boko Haram reclaims Marte from Nigerian Military
The Boko Haram terrorist sect has forced hundreds of soldiers to flee Marte, a border town in Borno state, along the shores of the Lake Chad, during the battle to reclaim the formerly-captured town from soldiers.
According to Imamu Habeeb, a local community leader, “the terrorists, numbering over 2,000, appeared from various directions on Thursday and engaged the soldiers in Kirenowa town and adjoining communities in Marte. They fought with the soldiers over the night and the fight continued on Friday, forcing hundreds of soldiers to flee.”
Another witness, a Local fighter, also said that the insurgents were armed with bombs and tanks, which they used without restraint.
Marte was recently retaken by men of the Nigeria’s military. It is one of the key domains of the Boko Haram, as they have killed more than 13,000 and left 1.5 million homeless in the area.
