Boko Haram attacks new Chief of Army Staff village, kills scores of people

Few days after the Chief of Army Staff Major General Tukur Buratai boasted that members of Boko Haram will beg for peace, his village, Buratai in Biu Local government area of Borno State was attacked on Tuesday by suspected members of the group leading to the death of scores of people and the destruction of many houses including the House of a former Commissioner of the State, Barrister Isa Buratai., reports ionigeria.

The report quoted a source to have said, “I cannot say how many were killed in the raid by Boko Haram because we left the town while they were still on it. I saw corpses and I saw the house of our former commissioner, Isa Buratai on fire. I don’t know about the people in the house, but about two corpses were seen along the way apart from many others that we saw”.

The online medium said, attempt to get through to the former Commissioner of Sports, Barrister Isa Buratai to speak on the incident failed as his numbers were switched off. However, a close associate of the Commissioner confirmed the incident.

It would be recalled that on Thursday, Major General Buratai told State House Correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari that he was moving to Damaturu Yobe State, to celebrate the Sallah with the troops in the front there, the next day, a prayer ground in the town was attacked by suspected members of Boko Haram leading to the death of about 50 people.
