Black Sunday in Nigeria President Jonathan Declares 3-day mourning for Victim of Dana Air Crash

President Goodluck Jonathan has declared a 3-day mourning for the victims of Sunday Dana Air crash in Lagos, south west Nigeria.  The Lagos bound Domestic Flights crash compounded the tragic losses Nigeria has witnessed in recent months.  In a release signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media, Dr. Reuben Abati, President has ordered full investigation into the crash and directed the Nigerian flag to be flown at half-mast for the three days signaling national mourning. The President also cancelled all his public engagements scheduled for Monday, 4thJune.  The Minister of Aviation Mrs. Stella Oduah openly wept while addressing newsmen on the crash. According to the Minister, the Flight was in touch with the control tower shortly before it lost contact and eventually crashed into residential area in Lagos; killing all passengers and crew members. The Minister promised to update the public on immediate and remote causes  of the crash.

Meanwhile, a copy of the manifest of the ill-fated plane show that top military officers, the Group General Manager, Corporate Affairs of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, Levi Ajuonuma, son Nigeria’s former military vice president were involved in the crash.
