Benfica Confirm Markovic’s Move to Liverpool

Portuguese club, Benfica have confirmed that they have sold Lazar Markovic to Liverpool.The Serbian forward had revealed on Facebook on Monday night that he was on the way to join Liverpool, and Benfica have now declared that they have sold the player, with the total fee believed to be around £20m.The 20-year-old underwent his medical at Merseyside yesterday.
His arrival now puts Brendan Rodgers’ spending close to £60m after Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana and Emre Can have already been added to the squad while negotiations are continuing in an attempt to sign Belgium’s Lille striker Divock Origi.Markovic can play either on the left wing or as up front on his own, and is expected to complete Brendan Rodgers post-Suarez attack alongside the central Lambert and Daniel Sturridge on the right.
