Bayern Munich Injury Worries Continue as Javi Martinez is ruled out for The Rest of 2014
Bayern Munich midfielder, Javi Martinez has been ruled out of action for the rest of the year after tearing cruciate ligaments in his left knee in Wednesday’s German Super Cup defeat by Borussia Dortmund.
The club revealed in a statement on Thursday that the defensive midfielder will fly to the United States in the coming days to undergo surgery, Bayern said .
“Obviously I am very sad at the moment but I will come back stronger than before,” the 25-year-old said.
The Spaniard was taken off on a stretcher with his knee heavily bandaged after a tackle from Dortmund defender, Marcel Schmelzer.
Bayern were unable to return a goal and lost the game by 2 goals. The Bundesliga Champions are already missing Thiago Alcantara, Rafinha, Franck Ribery and Bastian Schweinsteiger due to injuries.
