Bayelsa gubernatorial elections must be credible
The Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate joins millions of Nigerians and lovers of democracy all over the world, to wish the good people of Bayelsa state, a successful, free, fair and credible gubernatorial elections holding on Saturday 5th December, 2015.We call on the electorate to troop out enmasse in an orderly and peaceful manner to exercise their franchise for the candidate of their choice for the good of the state and refuse to be intimidated or inducedby pecuniary considerations and interests
We as well want to admonish INEC to ensure that its professionalism, impartiality and credible conduct of the election is not in doubt. We urge the electoral body to ensure hitch free and early arrival of election personnel and functional materials at polling centres in order to allow the people exercise their constitutional franchise.
We also call on the security agencies to be on top alert to perform their responsibility creditably and professionally for the growth of our democracy and good of the society.
We equally call on the political parties to continue to maintain peace and spirit of brotherliness among its supporters before, during and after the elections. They must remain focused on the rules of engagement by civilized and responsible conduct, no matter the provocations.
We call on the media, local and international observers to discharge their responsibility professionally, unbiased and creditably for the growth of democracy and peace of the society.
Once again, we wish the people of Bayelsa state, a free, fair, transparent and credible gubernatorial election in which the outcome will indisputably reflect the popular will of the people as expressed at the ballot box.
