Barcelona to Rename Training Pitch after Tito Vilanova
Barcelona have announced that a pitch at their training ground will be named after their former coach, Tito Vilanova, who died in April.
The club’s board agreed that the pitch at Ciudad Deportiva de Sant Joan Despi, where the first team trains, would be renamed in honour of Vilanova.
Vilanova succeeded Pep Guardiola for the 2012-13 campaign after the coach left for a sabbatical and won the title during his only season in charge.
However, after problems with throat cancer he was forced to step down. He died at the age of 45 following an emergency surgery this year.
