DIMEJI BANKOLE: AN ALIEN IN OGUN PDP WORKING TO REAP FROM WHERE HE HAS NOT SOWN

The attention of the Gboyega Nasir Isiaka Campaign Organization (GNICO) has been drawn to a report made by a self-styled group called Dimeji Bankole Movement (DBM), which was widely used in some newspapers (but Punch and Vanguard more precisely) of Wednesday 17th December 2015. The group, apparently sympathetic to the cause of a politician and from our investigation, the lead campaign structure for a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, in their statement, made wild insinuation and cast aspersion on the personality, integrity and popular mandate of the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Ogun State, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka (GNI).

While it has never been in our character to descend to low levels in our engagements with any political competitor, we must not fail to put this shameful action into its appropriate perspective so that the public is not misled by this group whose ultimate intention is to irritate and confuse all and sundry. Three clear issues arise from the thoughtless DBM press statement. Firstly, that Prince Gboyega Isiaka is a fake product of an unauthorized primary election. Secondly, that the legitimate protest by Ogun west people is a red herring meant to cause confusion in the party. Thirdly, that our principal, GNI is an adulterated article. We shall set the records straight.

While recent event shows that lies, misinformation and deliberate falsehood are fast becoming the hallmarks of all Dimeji Bankole political infrastructures, it is unfortunate that the Dimeji Bankole Movement have descended to the abyss of hallucination by this offensive statement which to all discerning mind, is a desperate attempt to break into the peaceful PDP house through the roof. Let it be stated inter alia that Hon. Dimeji Bankole is an alien in Ogun PDP today as he has never participated nor identified with the party in all its processes between 2011 and now; only to wake up from his deep slumber few weeks back to want to pick the biggest position on offer through the backdoor and in the process showing crass disdain for the party in Ogun state.

Firstly, it is only a jaundiced mind like that of the DBM that will regard Prince Isiaka as a fake candidate of a flawed primary. In the first instance, none of the legitimate aspirants known to ogun PDP has complained of the process except the “alien aspirant”. For the avoidance of doubt, the primary was legal and followed all extant party and INEC guidelines. Contrary to their warped logic, the NWC made representations, INEC supervised the election and made its report, the Police and SSS monitored and made their reports, it was aired live on Rockcity fm while other media were present; and most importantly, the full complement of Ogun PDP was there and the second runner-up, Hon. Kayode Amusan conceded victory to Isiaka describing the process as “very organized and transparent”.

To further reinforce the validity of the primary, Chief Olisa Metuh, who earlier made an announcement purportedly cancelling the primary on the event day has tactically reversed and nudged himself on the path of truth via his latest statement on the matter, published in the Punch newspaper of 15th December, 2014 which reads in part:

“The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Olisa Metuh told our correspondents that members of our Ogun state chapter of our party have made representations to us when they came to the NWC that they did not get the directive on time and that they only got it through the media after the exercise had been concluded”……… “We are looking at the issue but I can tell you that we will release the list of winners of all the primaries this week”. End of quote.

Concomitant to the above, no one can abort a baby that has been born and anybody in doubt as to the integrity of the primaries and the mandate freely given to Prince Gboyega Isiaka, must be living in delusion and needs wake up to reality.

Secondly, it is preposterous and an affront on the sensibilities of the Yewa-Awori people for the Bankole group to have termed that legitimate solidarity rally against an attempt to yet again deprive a popular mandate given to a son of theirs as a red herring meant to cause confusion in the party. Bankole’s continuous disregard to Yewa-Awori people is now legendary and unbecoming of his stature. Is it a crime to protest injustice? Has Bankole forgotten what he learnt as a lawmaker to promote and protect the law, which guarantees freedom of association and expression? This is particularly disgusting and arrogant but we leave him to the forebears of Yewa/Awori to give him the right judgment when the time comes; nevertheless, any attempt to denigrate the Yewa-Aworis will be met with equal and more brute reaction.

Thirdly, the Bankole group further climbed to ludicrous heights by casting aspersion on our principal. Well, we will not join issues with DBM as their own “product is not only fake, it is alien and unmarketable; hence their resort to subterfuge”. Isiaka’s antecedents are crystal clear and he has by dint of hardwork got himself well schooled, rose through the private sector ladder and equally distinguished himself in public service. Such a man has his destiny in his hands and follows the rules of life to achieve his goals; but for those who constantly wait on the gods to crack their palm kernel for them, they usually report to despicable acts when the gods turn their backs on them and refuse to crack the kernel as it is this time around.

Finally, we believe we are still of the same political family and they must have acted on ignorance in a morbid bid to achieve their inordinate desire, but we enjoin the Bankole group to have a rethink and recall themselves to order. We also call on Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole whom we believe will never associate himself with the shenanigans of the DBM to immediately call them to order. We regard Bankole as our partner in progress and we want him to work with us in returning GNI as the governor come February 28th 2015. No man is bigger that the party and the party will not be destroyed because of one man. Ogun PDP has spoken loud and the mandate given to Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka as the gubernatorial candidate of Ogun PDP is legitimate, irreversible and sacrosanct.
