Bankole Hails Robert Francis Prevost’s Emergence As the 267th Pope

On Thursday, May 8, 20205, Robert Francis Prevost, was elected as Pope, he is the 267th occupant of the throne of St Peter and he will be known as Leo XIV. Prevost is the first American to fill the role of pope, but he is also a citizen of Peru having spent many years in the South American Country. Many people have hailed the emergence of Leo XIV for his sterling qualities.  World leaders have congratulated the Catholic family for the smooth transition . Among them is Aare Tolu Bankole, a Member of the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He described the new pontiff’s emergence as “a defining moment not just for the Catholic Church, but for the entire world.”

In a statement by Bankole and made available to NigerianEcho, he congratulated the Pope on his emergence as the head of the Catholic Community.

“I extend my profound congratulations to His Holiness, Pope Leo XIV, on this historic ascension to the sacred office of the Bishop of Rome, The global community looks forward to a papacy that will inspire compassion, uphold human dignity, and foster unity among nations”, Bankole said.

 Bankole, who is the National leader of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) of APC, said Pope Leo XIV’s  emergence signifies the collective joy and spiritual hope that the moment brings to vulnerable communities, including Nigeria’s PWDs.

“We join the global Christian family in celebrating the election of the new pontiff, and offer our prayers for strength, wisdom, and divine guidance throughout his tenure, May the Lord bless His Holiness with the grace to lead the flock with courage and humility in these times of global uncertainty,” Bankole concluded.
