Ayetoro Yewa Celebrates Salako, Minister of State for Environment
Becomes Debe-Odero of Ayetoro Yewa.
Ayetoro indigenes home and in diaspora last weekend organized a grand reception for one of their sons, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, who was recently appointed as the Honourable Minister of State for Environment. The grand reception in honour of Salako was part of the grand finale of 2023 Ayetoro Yewa Festival which was held at Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro-Yewa, Ogun State on Saturday 11th November 2023.
The reception was organized by Ayetoro indigenes under the auspices of Alaye-in-Council, the Central Ayetoro Initiative for Development, and the Central Ayetoro Day Organizing Committee to celebrate their son. NigerianEcho was informed that Salako made history as the first indigene of Ayetoro Yewa to be appointed as a Minister. He is also the first Ogun West person to be appointed as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since the start of the 4th Republic in 1999.
The event was graced by many dignitaries who came from different parts of the country. Among the guests at the occasion are the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola represented by Prince Femi Dokunmu, the Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Idris represented by Mr Mansur Salanke, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, Members of the Ogun State Executive Council, Members of the Ogun State House of Assembly and Chairmen of local Government Councils.
Other personalities at the event are directors and heads of Agencies of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Senator Kola Bajomo, Prof. Rahmon Bello, Prof. Anthony Asiwaju, former Deputy Governors; Prince Segun Adesegun and Alhaja Salmot Badru. The Royal Host at the occasion, the Alaye of Ayetoro Oba Azeez Ishola Adelakun and other royal fathers from the State.
The Saala Ayetoro born Salako and his wife, Dr (Mrs) Risquat Salako were further honoured by Alaye-in-Council with chieftaincy titles of Debe-Odero and Yeye Debe-Odero of Ayetoro Yewaland.
While appreciating the honour bestowed on him by the good people of Ayetoro, the Honourable Minister of State for Environment said he sincerely appreciated not only the physical presence of the people especially the guests but also the warm solidarity at the grand finale of 2023 Ayetoro Yewa Festival as well as the Reception in his honour.
The Minister used the occasion to appreciate the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR for the opportunity given to him to serve at the highest level of Government and also launched a free prescription eye glass distribution program tagged “Jigi Emilokan” under the auspices of Assalamu Alaikum Foundation (AAF) which was established years back in memory of his late father. Many people, especially the aged benefited from the eye test and free prescription glasses.
Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako further reassured Ogun state people and Nigerians of a more responsive governance, saying Ayetoro Yewa and the rest of Nigeria will enjoy priority attention of the Federal Government and that of the Federal Ministry of Environment.
