AUDU: Ensure Apc’s Victory In Supplementry Poll – AJIMOBI
Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has said that the best way to keep the memory of the late All Progressives Congress candidate in the stalemated November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, Prince Audu Abubakar, alive is for the people of the state to ensure that the party emerges the eventual winner of the election.
A statement by the Office of Secretary to the State Government, on Tuesday, quoted the governor as describing the late two-time governor of Kogi State as a democrat and kindred spirit who always wanted the best for his people.
While lamenting Prince Audu’s unfortunate demise during Kogi State’s governorship elections, the governor prayed for the repose of his soul and wished the family, the state and the APC family the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable loss.
Recalling his many sterling achievements first during his 1991 stint and later during his second tour of duty in 1999, Ajimobi extolled the late Audu’s imperishable contributions to the infrastructural and social development of Kogi State.
Going down memory lane, Ajimobi spoke glowingly about some of those monumental projects including the setting up of the State University, the construction of housing estates across the state as well as the provision of health and other social amenities, for which citizens and stakeholders are continually thankful.
The governor said, “The palpably favourable response of stakeholders and voters to his governorship candidacy during last Saturday’s election is a testimonial to their love for him and his good works in the service of the people.
“From the trend of the results announced from most voting centres by INEC before the stalemate, it is apparent that the people of Kogi State loved Audu so much that they wanted him and his party, the APC to form the next government in Kogi State.
“Notwithstanding the unftortunate death of the Prince, the people of the Confluence State must remain committed to his great vision and modernist plans for a greater Kogi State, in which the security, welfare and good life of all stakeholders are paramount.”
Ajimobi urged the people of the state to ensure that they latch on to the progressive train travelling across the nation by voting massively for the gubernatorial ticket of the APC whenever the INEC eventually decides on the supplementary elections.
“To me, that is a sure way of keeping Prince Audu’s loving memory alive. That is how to ensure that the people of Kogi join the progressive train of President Muhammadu Buhari in order to benefit from the manifest dividends of democracy under the new dispensation,” the governor said.
