Atiku and Kwankwanso Deny Reports of Return to PDP
Former Vice-President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has denied rumours of a return to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party from the All Progressives Congress.
While responding to claims by the PDP National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, that the party was making moves to win back its former members, Atiku made it known that although he was being pressured by members of the ruling party to return, he had no plans to do so.
The Director General of the Atiku Media Office, Mallam Garba Shehu, said that rumours of a defection from the APC were lies being fueled by the PDP.
He said, “There is no iota of truth in such claims. It is not only false, it is malicious and a product of the futile imaginations of those peddling it.”
The Kano state governor, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, also denied making moves to return to his former party through his Director of Press and Public Relations, Baba Dantiye, who said:
“He (Kwankwaso) is presently APC’s candidate for Kano Central Senatorial District. I think it’s just PDP’s desperation.”
