Assurances not enough, Islamic Organisation tells security agencies
Jamatu Nasril Islam, JNI, has tasked the security agencies and all tiers of government on the spate of wanton killings of the innocent by the Boko Haram, insisting that, assurances on their commitment to curtailing insurgency and bomb attacks were no longer acceptable to Nigerians.
In a reaction to the twin bomb blasts in Jos, Plateau State on Tuesday, JNI, expressed shock, pain and bewilderment over the news of the attacks, which led to the death of hundreds of Nigerians.
The group in a statement issued by its Secretary-General, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, lamented that the explosions came at a time Jos and the entire state was enjoying tranquility, and gradually heading towards peace adding that the incident was a setback for the people.
Dr. Aliyu said that masterminds of the attacks were “wicked and evil doers, who hate to see peace thrive. We condemn in the strongest terms this wicked act which caused the death of innocent lives, going about their normal businesses innocently. “Beyond condemnation, governments at all levels and security agencies must rise to the occasion, to take proactive measures in dealing with the monster of terrorism. We have had a lot of verbal assurances. Something positive in curbing the tide of this terror must be on ground for the citizenry to for once have a sigh of relief.
“We commiserate with the government and the people of Plateau State and most importantly condole with the families of the victims of this inhuman and savage act. We continue to pray for the state and the entire nation for restoration of peace, security and tranquility.
“May Allah bring immediate succour and peace to our dear country,” he said. (NAN)
