The Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate (CPPM) is delighted to align with the overwhelming verdict of patriotic Nigerians and advocates of transparency, accountability and good governance in commending and congratulating President Muhammadu Buhari for providing exemplary, transparent, accountable, patriotic, forthright, honest, nationalistic and focused leadership in his 100 days in office.

Just like millions of Nigerians, we are very pleased with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for the recent public declaration of their assets in keeping to his electioneering promise which is a reconfirmation of the long held public view about the impeccable character and integrity of Mr. President and his Vice, which was also attested to by President Barack Obama of the United States and was a strong reason why majority of Nigerians entrusted their political and economic destiny into his hands for the next four years at the 2015 general elections.

The public declaration of assets by Mr. President and his Vice is a testimony to the fact that this is a responsible, responsive and trustworthy leadership which cares, rather than his immediate predecessor who didn’t give a damn and to whom stealing was not corruption in utter violations of God’s commandment and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

It is sad to recollect that before the coming into office of President Buhari, lawlessness, corruption, criminality and impunity was the order of the day as Nigeria became the object of international ridicule by the conduct of its government to our collective shame.

The exemplary leadership provided by President Muhammadu Buhari in the last 100 days is a testimonial to his mantra of “I belong to everybody and I belong to nobody” as the Nigerian state has witnessed massive positive changes in all facets of our national life to the glory of God and the benefit of the generality of the people.

In the last 100 days in office, we have seen and are experiencing notable changes and progress in our national life, like never witnessed before, such as:

1.   Leadership by example through transparent, Spartan and prudent lifestyle.

2.    Reorientation of public ethos to uphold our values which asserts that stealing is corruption unlike the opposite in the immediate past

3.    Rekindled the hope and faith of Nigerians in their fatherland which has been lagging due to corrupt, irresponsible and lawless government in the past.

4. Improved discipline in our national life through responsible public conduct.

5. Inculcating the culture of probity and accountability into our public life once again, unlike in the past which was characterized by corruption, profligacy and impunity.

6.  Improved image for Nigeria as the giant of Africa and pride of the black race, unlike our past image of shame and ignominy.

7.  Restoring Nigeria’s long lost image through focused and integrity based leadership.

8.   Strict adherence to due process and the rule of law in public conduct.

9.   Non interference in the activities of other arms of government.

10. Appointments into public office based on merit, character and integrity unlike in the past which was based on personal and group interest, godfatherism, political patronage and other anti people interest.

11. Reduced vandalization of oil and gas pipelines.

12. Improved electricity generation and supply nationwide

13. Improved collaboration and support from our neighbours and the international community in the war against boko haram.

14. Increased military onslaught and destruction of boko haram hideouts and camps which has depleted their strength drastically.

15. Improved morale and motivation of our military in the war against boko haram.

16. Integrity, sincerity and focused leadership in the war against boko haram through the relocation of the military high command to the theatre of war as well as leadership by example on display by the service chiefs who are personally and physically leading the onslaught on the field, unlike the past campaign of lies, deceit, falsehood, irresponsibility, campaign of propaganda and calumny for political reasons.

17. Resuscitation of our erstwhile moribund national refineries to productive capacity to enhance local production, distribution and reduce refined crude oil imports, unlike in the past.

18. Disappearance of fuel queues at the petrol stations nationwide unlike the situation of acute fuel shortages in the past.

19. Sale of petroleum products at official price at designated points.

20.Effective policing and monitoring of oil pipelines by the security agencies working in tandem with the host communities unlike the past era of criminality and lawlessness.

21.Repositioning the NNPC for greater efficiency and effectiveness.

22. Winning the war against oil bunkering through improved surveillance by the security agencies.

23. Operation of a Single Treasury Account (STA) by all government ministries, departments and agencies in order to curb the culture of corruption and impunity which pervaded in the past.

24. Mobilizing funds to assist states to fulfill their financial obligations to workers and other sundry commitments.

25. Increasing our foreign reserves despite dwindling revenue due to low crude oil prices

26. Prudent and judicious management of public resources, unlike the profligacy and squandering of the excess crude account by the federal government in our immediate past.

27. No promotion of the religious, ethnic and other primordial sentiments by the federal government, unlike in our immediate past.

28. Body language keeping corruption at bay.

29. Renewed commitment to anti corruption crusade which is in tandem with the provisions of the constitution and our values.

30. Injecting new life into the anti corruption agencies like the EFCC and ICPC which were incapacitated from carrying out their statutory functions by the immediate past administration of stealing is not corruption mantra.

31. Massive recovery of looted funds

32. Prompt release of funds and pledge of support to Nigerian athletes for the forthcoming all Africa games.

33. Despite the non constitution of his cabinet and absence of economic direction, the economy has remained expectant and not faring badly, etc

One can go on and on, listing the achievements of the Buhari’s administration in the last 100 days which is breathtaking and commendable, but for time and space. However, as Oliver Twist, we can only ask for more by encouraging the government not to rest on its oars in its focused and dogged commitment to the delivery of democratic dividends to the great people of Nigeria.

It is an indisputable fact that President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has been touching lives and bringing smiles and happiness to the faces and hearts of Nigerians whose prayers were answered by God at the polls through its conduct and actions since assuming the mantle of leadership some 100 days ago. Thus, we can only wish and pray that may the Almighty God continue to guide and protect Mr. President to deliver on his campaign promises in ameliorating the human condition of the Nigerian people.

As we trudge on, in this democratic journey, one must admonish the generality of Nigerians to remain vigilant, supportive and prayerful for this administration despite the evil plots, campaign of blackmail and calumny to wear out, confuse and brew bad blood between the government and the citizenry by agents of darkness and anti democratic elements who are unrepentantly pained by the exit of the old order which pandered to their self interest at the expense of our collective interest which the new order represents.

We must also encourage President Muhammadu Buhari to continue to exhibit exemplary leadership by remaining focused, resolute, patriotic, responsible and faithful to his oath of office and manifesto despite the campaign of hate and calumny by some persons and groups, as the generality of Nigerians are solidly behind this God ordained government in its herculean task of charting a new beginning for our beleaguered country. Together, we shall travel this path, until we get to the Promised Land.

Thanks.

Yours Sincerely,

Signed.

Nelson Ekujumi

Executive Chairman.
