Assembly Speaker, Oluomo Impeached on Allegations of Misappropriation
..He was a Clog in the Wheel of Progress- Adeleye
The Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo has been removed. Hon Oludaisi Elemide has been elected as the new speaker.
Olakunle was removed by 18 out of the 26 Members of the House who accused him of high handedness and misappropriation of funds.
Speaking with journalists immediately after the impeachment, Kayode Soneye who represents Obafemi Owode State Constituency said Oluomo was a cheat.
He said “ We never wanted Oluomo ab initio as our speaker, he was imposed on us. The party insisted that he had experience and that we should support him. We had given him all the support but he kept half of the money meant for members for himself. He was always inciting members against ourselves; inciting legislators against the executive and vice versa.”
Soneye said Oluomo should go and clear his name with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Hon Lukman Adeleye who represents Odogbolu State Constituency said Oluomo was a clog in the wheel of progress in the administration of Ogun State Government.
“ The Governor believes in the sanctity of the legislative institution and has been supportive of the House. You wouldn’t even know this house is heterogeneous because the Governor has been doing the needful. Our issues has been with leadership of the House. This has nothing to do with the Governor and would even help the administration to achieve its planned programmes.”, Adeleye noted.
