The Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST) has gained yet another significant milestone with the endorsement of the show by the Delta State Government, which has also confirmed its acceptance to be the Event Host State.
With the endorsement by the Delta State Government, the coast is now clearer, as MAFEST is set to host one of the most glamorous fashion shows in Africa from April 24th to 26th, 2025, in the capital city of Asaba.
Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Darlington Nnamdi Ijeh, conveyed the state government’s endorsement of the show in a letter titled “Re—Hosting of Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST)—Letter of Endorsement,” dated November 12, 2024, and addressed to the President of MAFEST Governing Council, Mr. Charles Ozoemena.
He said that the state government endorsed MAFEST because it aligns with the objective of the ministry to leverage culture, tourism, and creative economy as key contributors to the state’s economic growth.
Dr. Ijeh stated: “I write to refer to the above subject and to inform you that Delta State Government received the letter dated 11th November 2024 wherein you informed the Government of your intentions to host the Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST) on April 24th to 26th, 2025.
“The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is of the conclusion that the event is in line with the objective of the Ministry and unique since it will contribute to the growth of Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy through artistic excellence, and cultural exchange.
“Given the above, I wish to convey the endorsement of the Ministry to your organisation.”
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism added that on the strength of the endorsement, his ministry would support the hosting of MAFEST with the necessary expertise to ensure its success.
“By this endorsement, the Ministry is committed to providing expertise support towards the success of the event where necessary,” he declared while wishing the organisers of MAFEST a successful outcome.
Commenting on the endorsement by the Delta State Government, Mr. Ozoemena thanked the State Government, assuring that the fashion show would be an event worth associating with.
“We are deeply grateful to the Delta State Government for their invaluable endorsement of our fashion show. MAFEST will not only showcase the richness of our cultural heritage as Africans and indeed, the rich culture of Delta people; it will also significantly boost the local economy through job creation, talent development, and revenue generation,” he affirmed.
