Arsenal Set to Sign Auxerre’s Nte
Arsenal are close to acquiring their first signing of the January transfer window, AJ Auxerre forward Paul-Georges Ntep
The 21 year-old French who plays most of his football on the left wing but is capable of playing right across the forward line, has scored seven goals and provided one assist in his 17 appearances for the Ligue 2 club this season.
The Emirates Stadium outfit have few top class options behind Olivier Giroud up front, despite Nicklas Bendtner’s creditable performances when selected at centre forward. Santi Cazorla is however yet to find his form of last season on the left flank, while Lukas Podolski has earned few chances to impress since recovering from his hamstring injury.
Wenger has however said that a replacement would be needed to fill Bendtner’s place while he is out on long-term injury. Although he might intend for that replacement to be Ntep, it would be surprising if he was able to make a sudden move from Ligue 2 to Premier League mid-season.
