Army clarifies Damaturu shooting, Arrests the culprit

Nigerian Army on Tuesday said the sporadic shooting heard around Damaturu metropolis on Tuesday was due to an action of one of its soldiers.
This explanation was contained in a statement issued by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col Sani Usman.
The short statement reads: “The Nigerian Army wishes to inform the public and clarify that the sporadic firing heard in Damaturu this evening was a gross act of indiscipline on the part of a soldier who has already been arrested”.
The army spokesman appealed to the public, especially those residing in Damaturu, to remain calm and go about their normal business.
There was a serious pandemonium on Tuesday due to a sporadic shooting around Damaturu metropolis and this made the army authority come out to explain what actually happened.
