Arewa Consultative forum Condemns National Assembly Crisis
In the wake of the fracas that occurred at the National Assembly on Thursday when security operatives refused to let the speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, enter the building, the Arewa Consultative forum, ACF, has condemned action of the police officers and called for sanctions against those behind the blockade.
The spokesperson for the forum, Anthony Sani, stated that the incident has painted Nigeria as a lawless and democratic country to other countries.
He said: “What happened in the national assembly was not democratic and therefore shameful not only in Nigeria but across the globe. Whoever orchestrated the incident in the National Assembly should be called to order and sanctioned accordingly.”
He also urged Nigerians to protect democracy and make sure they are not used by politicians to disturb the peace of the nation.
“We must not allow our personal interest override our national call that will create disaffection among the system and create necessary tension,” he concluded.
