Arewa Community Mobilises For Tinubu; Cautions Lagos Commissioner against Misrepresentation
As 2023 polls gather momentum, Arewa Community in Lagos has pledged support for the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The group under the aegis of Arewa Community (APC
Lagos State) has alerted the public to the misrepresentation and divisive activities of Arc. Kabiru Ahmed Abdullahi, the Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure.
At a Press Conference addresses by Engr. Saadu Yusuf Dandare,
& Chairman Arewa Community (APC South-West), the Commissioner was accused of orchestrating divisions and conflicts amongst stakeholders of Arewa Community in Lagos State.
The group claimed it was instrumental to the unprecedented over 1.5 million votes recorded by Governor Babatunde Fashola as the flag bearer of Alliance for Democracy (AD) when Late Sidi Ali was chairman of Arewa community in 1999 with current Lagos Commissioner, Arc. Kabir as the General Secretary.
The group alleged following the appointment of Arc. Kabir as General Manager, Lagos State Planning and Environmental Monitoring Authority (LASPEMA) by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his subsequent elevation in Lagos Srate, the leadership of Late Sidi Ali as Chairman of Arewa group has been undermined for selfish interest.
The group further alleged that the demise of Engr. sidi Ali strengthened the hands of the Commissioner who has remained unperturbed in his inordinate desire to misrepresent and usurp the leadership of Arewa community.
The group maintained that stakeholders within the Arewa community in Lagos State are not happy with the activities of the Commissioner who was alleged of imposition of leadership through the back door which according to them “stopped our people to from going out to vote”.
The group accused the Commissioner of illegally parading himself as Arewa community Chairman whereas no election ever took place, anytime we planed to organize an election owing to sabotage by the Commissioner.
The leader of the group, Dandare Engr. Saadu Yusuf Dandare however assured that his coming on board as the chairman of Arewa Community (APC Lagos) the support of Arewa community will be secured for APC.
The group wonder what the Commissioner, Arc. Kabiru Ahmed wants to achieve with division within the rank of Arewa stakeholders. The group alleged that 21 years after Commissioner has been holding public office, he has never done any empowerment not even once nor gave scholarship to Arewa students.
The group express the frustration of Arewa Community with the recycling of one man as the only voice of Arewa in Lagos State.
The however insisted that presidential aspiration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is critical and that all hands must be on deck because it is payback time.
The group reiterated that progress is impossible without change and that those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.
