Appeal Court affirms Gov. Ortom’s election
The Appeal Court sitting in Makurdi on Wednesday upheld the election of Gov. Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Vanguard has reported.
According to the report, the court dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the last elections, Terhemen Tarzoor, challenging the judgement of the Justice Elizabeth Karatu led governorship Elections Petition Tribunal, which ruled in favour of Ortom, who was the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the election.
The appellate court, in its judgment delivered by Justice Muhamad Garuba, dismissed Tarzoor’s appeal because he failed to prove that Ortom was not properly nominated by his party.
Justice Garuba noted that Tarzoor failed to discharge the burden of proof to buttress his claims.
