APC’s National Working Committee Member, Bankole, Mourns Pope Francis, Hails His Legacy of Compassion
Comrade Tolu Bankole, a member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and the party’s National Leader for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), has mourned Pope Francis who died on Monday at the age of 88 in Rome. Bankole in a statement made available to NigerianEcho described the late Pope Francis as a “spiritual giant” who lived a life of compassion and identified with the oppressed especially persons with disabilities while speaking truth to power.
” I join the global Christian community and indeed the entire Roman Catholic Church in mourning the passing of a spiritual giant whose legacy will endure for generations. Pope Francis exemplified Christ-like leadership, unity, and inclusiveness, Pope Francis was more than the head of the Roman Catholic Church. He was a beacon of peace, humility, and unwavering faith—a man who lived the gospel he preached”, Bankole said.
He extended heartfelt condolences to all Christians worldwide, particularly the Roman Catholic faithful, urging them to draw strength from the impactful life and legacy of the Pope.
Bankole said late Pope’s teachings and his example resonated beyond religion,
“He gave voice to the voiceless, hope to the hopeless, and demonstrated that true leadership is grounded in empathy and service. He embraced the outcast and reminded the world of the sanctity of every human life. As we grieve, let us also celebrate a life lived in selfless service to God and humanity. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he concluded.
