APC warns President Jonathan against using Ebola Containment as Campaign Propaganda
The All Progressives Congress has told President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples’ Democratic Party, to stop using the successful containment of the Ebola in the country to campaign.
The party said this In a statement issued in London by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, on Sunday, stating that the gesture is dishonest.
Mohammed also said President Jonathan and his party are wrong to claim credit for the containment for the disease without giving credit to late Dr. Stella Adadevoh and her colleagues at the First Consultant Hospital; officials of the Ministries of Health in Lagos and Rivers States and Nigerian volunteers.
In the statement, the party described the move to make the Ebola success story a campaign issue during a PDP rally in Benin as a “cheap shot” and a “shameless venture”.
The party however commended Health Minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu for showing “professionalism and purposefulness that are not common with the Jonathan Administration” while handling the spread of the disease.
In the statement, Lagos and Rivers governors, Babatunde Raji Fashola and Rotimi Amaechi were also commended for their “promptness, purposefulness, doggedness and determination”while combating the disease, and making sure it was successfully contained.
