Anambra Election: PDP unites for Ukachuckwu
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members have resolved to collectively unite and support Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16 governorship election in Anambra State, with a view to ensuring that the party wins the November poll.
Mobilisation of members have started to ensure his success in the election. Indication at the campaign office which has become a beehive of activities for over a week was full of party faithful yesterday -Monday in an attempt to be recognised and assigned one responsibility or the other that would lead to a successful campaign kick-off planned for next Saturday at Onitsha.
The Ikukuoma Campaign Organisation, Ukachukwu’s campaign office in Awka, PDP members who hitherto were divided along winners of the parallel primaries conducted by the party in July have put aside their differences and were paying allegiance to the candidature of Ukachukwu.
The state PDP Chairman, Kenneth Emeakayi, said having forwarded the name of Ukachukwu to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the party would give him the necessary support.
He said Ukachukwu remains the party’s candidate, following the pronouncement of the court and that it was not in doubt about the support for his candidature would be total, noting that the national chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and members of the National Working Committee, NWC, took the decision last week to begin the campaign for Ukachukwu.
“The candidate of the party as far as the court judgment is concerned is Ukachukwu,” he said, adding that the job of every PDP member in the state henceforth would be to deliver his polling booth and once this was done, victory was assured”, Emeakayi concluded.
