Amosun praises Yewa indigenes, assured them of infrastructure
The governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun fca, has assured the people of Yewa that his administration will not relegate them.
Senator Amosun said this at the weekend during the grand finale of the maiden edition of Yewa Festival held at Gateway International Stadium, Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State where he admitted the important roles the zone played towards his emergence as the governor of the state.
The governor who was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa, assured Yewa people that his administration has and will not relegate them in scheme of things in both governance and infrastructure.
Speaking further, Amosun stressed that he would remain grateful to the people in view of their support towards his emergence as the governor of the state. He made it publicly known that he would not turn out to be an ingrate to the zone.
“I reckon with Yewa people. There is no government and can’t be government in Ogun State without Yewa. Your support won’t be taken for granted, because I appreciate your roles towards my electoral success and I will never disappoint you.”
He seized the occasion to inform the Yewa people that, as part of fulfillment of his electoral promises, his administration has embarked on the construction of the longest road in the state which is situated in the zone.
The governor sought the support of the zone as he continues to lead the state, pointing out that, their support has remained a motivating factor for him and government since he took over, over three years ago.
Early in the morning, there was procession from Idogo town where the people went to appease Yewa river to the stadium.
On Friday, the final of Yewa Unity cup which was played by over twenty(20) towns of Yewa came up between Owode-Yewa and Oke-Odan. The giant cup donated by the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle MFR was won by Oke-Odan.
The week-long festival featured academic competition among school children, drama, homage to traditional rulers, soccer competition, musical and talent hunt and Excellence award to about 30 sons and daughters of Yewaland who has excelled in their respective field.
In his remark, the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle MFR expressed appreciation to sons and daughters of Yewa for making the celebration a reality.
Kabiyesi emphasised the need for all his subjects to be in unity, for the developmental growth of the land, just as he appealed to those is Diaspora not to stay far away from their ancestral home.
