Am Ready To Give My Life For Those Girls – Governor Shetima
Borno State Governor,Kashim Shetima Yesterday said that if it was possible he would exchange his life for peace in the troubled state.
The governor also revealed he does not fear the requested extension of the emergency rule but only if the new one will prove more effective than the one the had for the past 12 months.
Jonathan had this time last year declared the state of emergency in three states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe, in the north-eastern part of Nigeria. This was done in an attempt to curb the violence perpetrated by Islamic sect Boko Haram.
Shetima took time out to slam the inefficiency of the Nigerian military in tackling the security situation in the country, especially the northern region.
He was talking after some youths in the communities had defended the villages of Ran and Kala Balge in the state from being run over by Boko Haram members.
The Governor also said that the attacks on Giwa Barracks in Maiduguri, the state capaital by Boko Haram could have been severe if not for the rise of the civilian JTF that confronted the insurgents.
He said: “This state of emergency is useless. These wicked people had a field day when they annexed Giwa Barracks. Before the civilian JTF
confronted them, many had died,”.
Shetima then finally said that his mind is more concerned with the freedom of the Chibok girls, who where kidnapped by the sect.
He said, “This state of emergency is nonsense, our major concern is to find our Chibok girls alive, I can sacrifice my life for that, wallahi tallahi (I swear by Allah).” He submitted.
