Alabi Resigns as Ondo PDP Chairman

Ebenezer AlabiThe Chairman of the Ondo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ebenezer Alabi has resigned his position after pressure from the presidency and his dispute with Governor Olusegun Mimiko who recently defected to the ruling party.

According to reports, a new board of executives chaired by Clement Faboyede, former Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperative Services has been inaugurated at National Secretariat of the party in Abuja.

Fatai Adams now serves as Deputy Chairman, Ibine Oyedele will now be the Secretary, while Akin Akinbobola and Banji Okunomo are the Organising Secretary and Publicity Secretary respectively.

Speaking at the venue, the Party’s National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu said the move would further strengthen the party ahead of the 2015 general election.

Governor Mimiko said both the new members and old members of the party have resolved to move forward and deliver the state to President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

“For me, what look like a major challenge to us has been resolved and laid to rest in the interest of our party and we shall moved the country forward.”

Alabi said that he only resigned in the overall interest of the party and denied any pressure from the presidency. Some aggrieved old members of the party have threatened to defect to the All Progressive Congress as a result of Alabi’s resignation.
