Al Ahly Win Record Sixth CAF Super Cup Trophy
Egyptian giants, Al Ahly clinched a record sixth Super Cup trophy on thursday after defeating CS Sfaxien of Tunisia 3-2 at Cairo International stadium.
Goals from Mohammed Gedo and a brace from new signing Amr Sayed helped Ahly win as Sfaxien skipper Ali Maloul scored from the penalty spot before Benyoussef Fakhreddine added a second but failed to grab an incisive third.
Ah Ahly are the third team to claim back-to-back Super Cup wins- matching their 2006 and 2007 record- with only TP Mazembe of the DR Congo and Nigeria’s Enyimba being the other two clubs.
Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien won the Caf Confederation Cup Last Season. Al Ahly won the CAF Supercup Trophy in 2002, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2013, 2014.
