Akwa United football club of Uyo won Enyimba international 1-0 on Wednesday to continue their unbeaten run and 10 clean sheets in their last 12 league home matches.

Kufre Ebong scored the only goal of the match in the 46th minute with an assist from Ezekiel Bassey, to end Enyimba’s run of five matches without defeat.

United’s coach, Patrick Udoh, said after the match: “I feel excited. It was a hard-earned victory. We worked hard for it. (Ezekiel) Bassey is always like that. I developed him and gave him confidence to play.”

Enyimba’s head coach, Kadiri Ikhana, however blamed his boys for the loss, saying: “We played out of our plans. I’ll say we dashed out this game and I’m not happy at all. We refused to play as a team in the first half, rather we concentrated on defending and used up our energy too much.”
