Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State on Monday practically relocated his government to the Oke Ogun axis of the state, with a pledge that he would continue to use the available resources to ensure even distribution of dividends of democracy across all the five zones of the state.

The governor, who is expected to be at the Oke-Ogun axis for three days, first moved to Iseyin with all members of the State Executive Council where he presided over the distribution of appointment letters to the 2,500 primary and secondary school teachers just recruited into the state teaching service from the zone.

The programme, which was held at the Oja-Oba Market, saw the convergence of party faithful, professional bodies and members of the public, even as the governor promised that his administration would continue to improve the quality of education in the state.

Governor Ajimobi said the previous administration did not recruit any teacher during its tenure while its predecessor recruited only from Ibadanland and had the teachers so appointed transferred to the Oke Ogun area.

He said the decision of the present administration to recruit from Oke Ogun and other local government areas in the state was to prevent mass exodus of teachers from rural areas to the Ibadan city.

He, however, called on the newly recruited teachers to be dedicated and work for the progress and development of Oyo state.

Governor Ajimobi also used the opportunity of the event to accept new defectors to the party.

In their separate remarks,  the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Busari Adebisi and his Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) counterpart, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi said the teachers recruited in the Oke Ogun zone would be retained in the area.

Earlier, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul Ganiyu Adekunle, Ajinase 1, while receiving Governor Ajimobi in his palace, had commended him for his high level of political maturity and security initiatives.

He said that the people of Iseyin were grateful to the state government for the ongoing dualization of Iseyin Road despite the meager resources available to the state.

The monarch lauded the unrelenting efforts of the governor to bring development to all the areas of the state, stressing that the employment of teachers and other unemployed youths were indications of good governance.

“We had never witnessed these unprecedented achievements in the history of Oyo State. I want to advise you to disregard the antics of the distracters and continue with your good works in Oyo State,’’ he said.
